Disfruto de la nostalgia y mi conexión con la imagen nace a través del recuerdo. Todas las fotografías pertenecen al pasado.

Decir que la fotografía ha salvado mi vida puede sonar teatral, pero si bien no lo ha hecho de una manera física, no tengo duda de que ha sido decisiva para encontrar mi propio hogar. Mi intención fotográfica nace como consecuencia de ese refugio, de la necesidad de protegerme frente a cosas que sucedían a mi alrededor.

Una vez dentro todo comenzó a cobrar sentido. La fotografía me permite recorrer caminos a través de los cuales logro conocer personas y lugares cuya presencia me resulta enriquecedora. Es a través de esa búsqueda que disfruto de algo tan fundamental como es la posibilidad de conocerme a mí mismo. Necesito soledad, porque solo así logro una conexión completa con lo que estoy haciendo y comprendo lo que tengo ante mí. La fotografía es tiempo, técnicamente lo es, pero el tiempo que contiene una imagen es lo que nos provoca detenernos ante ella. La gran imagen surge cuando uno ha comprendido lo que tiene delante. Ese es el privilegio que me aporta la fotografía, vivir experiencias y recoger a través de la cámara aquello que decido recordar. Es una manera de reconstruir lo que soy a través de mis propias imágenes

I enjoy nostalgia, and my connection to the image is born through memory. All photographs belong to the past.

To say that photography has saved my life may sound theatrical, but although it has not done so in a physical way, I have no doubt that it has been decisive in finding my own home. My photographic intention was born as a consequence of that refuge, of the need to protect myself from things that were happening around me.

Once inside, everything began to make sense. Photography allows me to follow paths through which I get to know people and places whose presence I find enriching. Through this search, I enjoy something as fundamental as the possibility of getting to know myself. I need solitude because only in this way do I achieve a complete connection with what I am doing and understand what I have in front of me. Photography is time, technically, it is, but the time that an image contains is what makes us stop in front of it. The great image emerges when you have understood what is in front of you. That is the privilege that photography gives me, to live experiences and to collect through the camera what I decide to remember. It is a way of reconstructing who I am through my own pictures.
