Mi proceso creativo está siempre conectado con la intuición, la búsqueda y con el uso de la fotográfica como método de evasión. Me interesan los aspectos técnicos y formales de la imagen; sin embargo, creo que son irrelevantes si la emoción y el reflejo de nuestra experiencia y procesos internos no está presente. Me suele tomar mucho tiempo poner en orden mis ideas y verbalizar mis motivaciones, ya que van más allá de la racionalización y el intelecto, es algo más visceral. Aunque siempre hay un reflejo de nosotros en nuestras fotografías, pienso que hasta ahora he mantenido una mayor distancia con ellas, como si de alguna forma no estuviera totalmente conectado con el proceso. Es en mi último trabajo donde he cubierto más eficientemente ese espacio, lo cual me ha hecho crecer tanto personal como fotográficamente.

My creative process is always connected with intuition, research and the use of photography as a method of escape. I am interested in the technical and formal aspects of the image; however, I believe that they are irrelevant if the emotion and the reflection of our inner experience and processes is not present. It usually takes me a long time to put my ideas in order and verbalise my motivations, as they go beyond rationalisation and intellect, it is more visceral. Although there is always a reflection of us in our photographs, I think until now I have kept a greater distance from them, as if somehow I am not fully connected to the process. It is in my latest work that I have more effectively bridged that gap, which has made me grow both personally and photographically.
Elsewhere es un proyecto que surgió tras mudarme a Finlandia en 2020, el mismo año que comienza la pandemia. Fue un proceso difícil a nivel personal que me hizo buscar refugio en el paisaje para lidiar con las emociones de aislamiento. Este proyecto ha supuesto un cambio en mi percepción del proceso fotográfico, abriendo nuevas puertas a la experimentación en el uso de distintos materiales y formas de presentar mi trabajo.
Desafiando la inquieta sensación de no pertenencia, y las restricciones culturales, el paisaje me ha ofrecido un alivio catártico, permitiéndome crear una nueva conexión con la naturaleza. En el proceso confluyen los paisajes reales e imaginarios, en los que se disuelve el tiempo y el espacio. Esto provoca una interrupción, una ausencia, lo que genera en mi interior la sensación de estar en otra parte. La realidad queda suspendida, recordándome que formo parte de la naturaleza.
Este proyecto es una invitación a la reflexión, que busca crear un vacío desde el que surja una chispa de consciencia. Creo que en todos los matices de la simplicidad lo divino nos es revelado, ayudándonos a entender el mundo a través de un acto de soledad. La fotografía es un instrumento a través del cual puedo revelar no sólo la naturaleza dentro de mí, sino la naturaleza reflejada por el paisaje. Un silencio surge mostrando un universo calmo y preciado, suspendido en el tiempo, junto al mundo real. Un espacio transcendental que evoca una alegoría de un lugar llamado hogar.

Elsewhere is a project that came about after moving to Finland in 2020, the same year that the pandemic began. It was a difficult process on a personal level that made me seek refuge in the landscape to deal with the emotions of isolation. This project has shifted my perception of the photographic process, opening new doors to experimentation in using different materials and ways of presenting my work.
Challenging the uneasy feeling of not belonging and cultural restrictions, the landscape has offered me cathartic relief, allowing me to create a new connection with nature. Real and imaginary landscapes converge in the process, in which time and space dissolve. This causes an interruption, an absence, which generates the sensation of being somewhere else within me. Reality is suspended, reminding me that I am part of nature.
This project is an invitation to reflection, seeking to create a void from which a spark of consciousness emerges. I believe that in all the nuances of simplicity the divine is revealed to us, helping us to understand the world through an act of solitude. Photography is an instrument through which I can reveal not only the nature within me but the nature reflected by the landscape. A silence emerges, showing a calm and precious universe, suspended in time, next to the real world. A transcendental space that evokes an allegory of a place called home.
