Toda fotografía es una imagen pero no toda imagen es una fotografía, independientemente de que esté hecha con una cámara o no. Pero, realmente, ¿qué es una fotografía? Déjame expresarlo de otra manera.  La fotografía es la forma más chapucera que tienes de reflejar lo que hay en tu imaginación, de ilustrar las ideas. Cualquiera que tenga un lápiz lo hará mejor que tú. Imagina, por ejemplo, que tuvieras que reflejar un reloj derritiéndose. ¿Cómo lo haces? Pues el del lápiz es capaz de hacerlo todas las veces que quiera. Por eso digo que la fotografía es la forma más torpe y chapucera de recrear la imaginación. Es como intentar cortarte las uñas con un serrucho o con un martillo. La fotografía es una ilusión de una descripción literal. Es una porción de tiempo en el espacio, es eso y nada más.
