Katia Berestova
Me llamo Katia Berestova, soy una artista rusa, originaria de San Petersburgo, y actualmente vivo y trabajo en Moscú. Desde pequeña, me he dedicado a la pintura y el dibujo, y con el tiempo fui expandiendo mi práctica hacia la poesía, la fotografía y, en los últimos años, la dirección cinematográfica. Para mí, el arte es el lenguaje de la vida. Mantengo una relación creativa con la vida: ella me ofrece todo y yo, con gratitud, le devuelvo mis obras. La vida es la verdadera creadora, y su firma es el tiempo.
Siento una profunda admiración por el tiempo, por cómo interactúa con las obras de arte. Las grietas en un lienzo, el óleo que se vuelve amarillento, las estatuas con extremidades rotas... A veces, estos detalles son más importantes que la propia obra, mejorándola. El tiempo no solo modifica la obra, sino que también dialoga con ella.
También me fascina la idea de la atemporalidad, esa sensación de libertad en la que una fotografía podría haber sido tomada hace 100 años o en los próximos 100. En general, la libertad es un valor esencial para mí. Para mí, el arte es más parecido a una catedral que a un mercado. Me resulta ajena la moda y las reglas comerciales, al igual que el capitalismo. No quiero que la obra se convierta en un objeto publicitario, por eso no colaboro con marcas ni con fines comerciales. La obra debe contener el infinito, no ser solo un objeto.
Además, considero que el proceso creativo es lo más importante. La fama y la popularidad son solo un eco. Aunque es gratificante cuando una obra encuentra a su público, para mí lo más valioso como creadora es la profundidad de la idea. Quiero ser artista, y un artista solo existe en el momento de la creación. A través de ese proceso nos acercamos al creador y al sentido profundo de la existencia.

My name is Katia Berestova, I am a Russian artist originally from Saint Petersburg, and I currently live and work in Moscow. Since childhood, I have dedicated myself to painting and drawing, and over time, I expanded my practice to include poetry, photography, and, in recent years, film directing. For me, art is the language of life. I have a creative relationship with life: it gives me everything, and with gratitude, I return it through my works. Life is the true creator, and its signature is time.
I have a deep admiration for time and how it interacts with works of art. The cracks in a canvas, the yellowing of oil paint, the broken limbs of statues—sometimes these details are more important than the work itself, enhancing it. Time not only changes the work, but also engages in a dialogue with it.
I am also fascinated by the idea of timelessness, that sense of freedom where a photograph could have been taken 100 years ago or perhaps 100 years into the future. In general, freedom is an essential value to me. To me, art is more like a cathedral than a marketplace. I am uninterested in trends and commercial rules, much like capitalism. I do not want painting to become a vehicle for advertising, which is why I do not collaborate with brands or engage in commercial ventures. A painting must contain infinity, not just be an object.
Furthermore, I believe that the creative process is the most important aspect. Fame and popularity are just echoes. While it is gratifying when a work finds its audience, for me, the most valuable thing as a creator is the depth of the idea. I want to be an artist, and an artist only exists in the moment of creation. Through this process, we come closer to the creator and to the profound meaning of existence.

Меня зовут Катя Берестова я художник из России, родом из Санкт-Петербурга живу и работаю Москве.
Я занимаюсь живописью и графикой с самого детства, постепенно начала развиваться в поэзии, в фотографии и последние годы в режиссуре.
Для меня искусство это язык жизни. Я взаимодействую с жизнью - у нас творческий союз.
Она даёт мне всё - я возвращаю ей с благодарностью работы.
Жизнь - творец. Её стиль, почерк - время.
Я люблю время, то как оно взаимодействует с произведением искусства. Трещины на холсте , пожелтевшее масло, сломанные конечности у статуй - иногда это будто важнее самой работы делает её лучше. Время дополняет и взаимодействует.
Ещё важно безвременье. Это своего рода свобода. Эффект будто фотография снята 100 лет назад, а может только через 100 лет в будущем.
Свобода в целом важна для меня.
Для меня искусство это собор, а не рынок. Мне чужда мода и законы рынка, капитализм как таковой. Я не хочу видеть в картине рекламу, отчего не сотрудничаю с брендами и коммерцией. В картине должна быть бесконечность, а не предмет.
Ещё считаю важный основным делом это процесс. Слава и популярность это лишь эхо, конечно приятно когда работа находит зрителя, но для меня как для автора важно глубина идеи . Я хочу быть художником, а художник существует только в момент создания работы...так в процессе мы приближается к творцу к смыслу всего бытия.

Los retratos que hago son un intento de asomarme a la vida de otra persona, de entreabrir el velo del misterio a través de la naturaleza humana. En mi interacción con los modelos, se forma una especie de relación simbiótica, casi como un matrimonio, una relación basada en el respeto mutuo, donde ambos estamos al 50%. Lo que aparece en la fotografía no es solo la persona retratada, sino algo más profundo. Me importa transmitir una sensación de armonía, de que la persona está sumida en sí misma, en paz y en soledad. Así, en cada fotografía, hay una parte de mí y una parte del retratado, creando algo nuevo, un tercer elemento.
Es un nuevo mundo al que solo se puede acceder a través de la cámara, y eso es algo a la vez hermoso y ligeramente melancólico.

TThe portraits I create are an attempt to glimpse into another person’s life, to slightly lift the veil of mystery through human nature. In my interaction with the models, a kind of symbiotic relationship forms, almost like a marriage, one based on mutual respect where we both contribute equally, 50/50. What emerges in the photograph is not just the subject but something deeper. It’s important to me to convey a sense of harmony, as if the person is immersed in their own world, at peace and in solitude. Thus, in every photograph, there is a part of me and a part of the subject, creating something new—a third element.
It is a new world, one that can only be accessed through the camera, and it is both beautiful and slightly melancholic.

Портреты которые я публикую попытка заглянуть в окно другой жизни. Приоткрыть занавес тайны с помощью натуры. При взаимодействие с натурой у нас как бы образуется брак, любовь. При этом отношения равноправные 50/50. На фотографии получается не совсем модель. Мне важно передать гармоние, будто человек погружон в себя и находится наедине с собой. Получается на фотографии наполовину я на половину портретируемый- третье.
Новый мир, в который можно окунуться только через фотокамеру. Это прекрасно и не много грустно.
